What’s up with Christie?

Did we hear him correctly?  When speaking about Donald Trump last month at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, he said, "You better have somebody on that stage who can do to him what I did to Marco, because that's the only thing that's gonna defeat Donald Trump."  Evidently his favorite moment in the 2016 campaign was not audience applause for his performance as the bloviated (does not mean fat) Governor from New Jersey or his plan for government transformation.  At least Trump had a plan and accomplished much of it.

While many who run for office want the best for America, does Christie?  His comments while sunning on a public beach in 2017 when a budget shutdown closed state parks, “That’s just the way it goes.  Run for governor, and you can have a residence.”  That answer is not long winded, but it is certainly an elitist, entitled, and pompous politically arrogant statement.

Which brings us back to his most recent political ploy.  Christie is naval gazing, resting on his ecclesiastical shock absorber and throwing stones at anyone who has an opinion differing from his calculated “independent” perspective regarding the manipulated and manufactured treatment of Donald Trump.  “What I hate about our conversations about this right now, George, is that you have to be in one camp or the other.  It’s not true,” Christie told ABC’s Stephanopoulos.  “I do think there may be surprises in there for us.” He added that much of Trump’s response to the indictment is “bravado” and “baloney.”  Really?  Christie’s statement is the epitome of a true politician straddling the fence and not a statesman.

Unfortunately, Washington, DC. is broken.  Acknowledging systemic failure, having an uncompromising commitment to truth and justice and not a calculated one, is absolutely necessary at this crucial juncture in American history.  (Maybe it is too difficult for Christie to condemn the judicial system when he was once arguing federal cases before the court.  Friends don’t throw friends too far or completely under the bus, i.e., Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.)

Obvious to most casual observers who know a few shreds of evidence, the federal government’s law enforcement and judicial branches are less than stellar and have morphed into a cesspool of swampy stagnation, polluting and destroying all who unknowingly venture in without proper identification – WOKEness.  Is criticizing more important than taking a stand while condemning anyone who does not stick his finger into the air to sense the direction of the wind?  When you are committed to truth and right, in today’s political and cultural climate, the wind will seldom be at your back.  If it is, don’t get too comfortable moving forward or set sail in that direction for too long.

Christie needs to quit straddling the fence and take a stand.  Pick a side.  Maybe he has been on the fence too long, taken too many falls, while wanting to plant one foot on either side of the railing.  Can’t be done.  Every fence is taller than the inseam of trousers.  The result is damaged testosterone producers.  Putting “Little Marco” in his place may be for some, a great resume stuffer; for others, a waste of time.  Both feet cannot be firmly planted in two camps.  From observations about Washington, DC and state houses across this nation, the former governor of New Jersey is not the only who has straddled the fence.
